Police are on the hunt for a man who stole money from a charity box that supports seriously ill children and their families.

The offender broke open the box at McDonalds Cessnock while the store was closed on Tuesday morning.
The thief was spotted on CCTV footage about 3.30am. He walked up to the drive-through window, prised the cover off the box and stole an unknown amount of money.
The money was being collected in support of Ronald McDonald House.
Police attended the scene and conducted a forensic examination. The cover of the box was recovered a short distance away.
Police are appealing to the public for information to catch the thief.
The offender was of thin build, wearing a dark red beanie, dark hoodie, grey pants and white joggers.
