Year 10 student Harry Hughes’ family lost everything in a fire that tore through their Greta home in March.
The school decided to hold a fundraiser to help the family through the tough time.
The event involved a car wash, silent disco, barbecue lunch, touch football and the ‘brick in the wall’ project.
Students bought a $5 brick to write a message on and place on the wall in the shape of a house.
The bricks will all be collected and placed in a book for the Hughes family.
The idea was to show support for rebuilding of the family house.
The events managed to raise $7000 in total for the Hughes family.
Principal Paul Greaves said he was thrilled the school could assist the family.
“It’s good that the school community has been able to help,” he said.
“It’s been so easy to do because people wanted to do it.”
He also said the day exemplified their school motto – Strength in Difficulties.
