Charlestown carpenter Matt Logue and Garden Suburb’s Keisha Waugh, a model and dog rescue volunteer, have found themselves named the state’s Sexiest Vegans Next Door in a national competition.
Aside from bragging rights the pair receive a PETA logo T-shirt, a certificate, a Kind Cartel tote, and a gift voucher for Secret Creek Cafe.
Ms Waugh said she had omitted meat and animal products from her diet for five years.
“I chose to be vegan because I've always loved animals,” she said.
“I feel connected to life, I feel the energy of goodness, and I will never stop fighting for what I believe in.”
Mr Logue found his way into veganism through a girlfriend and said he was surprised by the benefits.
“"After watching different documentaries and feeling so much better [than I did on] my standard body-building diet, I haven't turned back since,” he said.
PETA's associate director of campaigns Ashley Fruno said the competition, modelled on a celebrity version of the competition, was found two people who were “a testament to how sexy vegans are”.
"A fit body, a healthy heart, and a clear conscience are just some of the benefits of eating vibrant plant-based meals," Ms Fruno said.
