Mister Twister claimed the $100,000 race on Friday night as the $1.90 favourite in the time of 30.66 seconds, beating Fast Times and Pelaw Main trainer Cheryl Murray’s Kong.
Jumping from box one, Mister Twister won by 2.25 metres to take his record to 12 wins and 11 placings from 29 starts.
The $21,000 Richmond Puppy Auction buy has earned more than $170,000 in stakes.
The win comes after Mister Twister, the second fastest qualifier for the final, was given a tonsillectomy.
“Mister Twister was breaking 30 seconds at Wentworth Park when he was a youngster yet all of a sudden he could not get near those figures,” Mackay told thedogs.com.au before the final.
“I noticed he was gasping for air after his races so I had his tonsils removed and he has come back better than ever.”
Heats of the $75,000-to-the-winner Peter Mosman Classic start on Saturday night at Wentworth Park. Mister Twister was on the second line of betting for the series at $18 with Sportsbet.com.au.
Fullerton Cove trainer Max Rimmer's Patch Adam was also in the market at $21.
Mister Twister is owned by Cheryl Murray’s son, Luke, and his Tiger Seven Syndicate, which also owns Kong. That dog was a $51 hope for the Peter Mosman Classic.
Mackay had one winner, Riley Tokaam, at Wentworth Park on Saturday night.
