The event attracted 55,000 people over the two days.
Seventy council event volunteers and hundreds of volunteers from a range of community organisations, machinery clubs and associations helped make the festival a huge success councillors were told at this week’s meeting.
Wet conditions leading up to the event cause a number of issues in relation to the rally ground.
A council report said problems arose and were compounded by the overall profile and poor drainage of the rally ground significantly lengthening the time required for the ground to dry out.
“While the rally ground is the core element of the annual Steamfest event, the ground is available and has been used for other events,” the report said. It is expected there will be $23,884 remaining unspent from the 2017 council Steamfest allocation after a third loco was cancelled.
