String Loaded, made up of mum Jennifer, dad Ray and teenagers Gabi and Olivia, was named Australian Celtic Artist of the Year at the award ceremony in May.
The Blissett family also collected Australian Celtic Group of the Year, Australian Celtic Album of the Year, Australian Celtic Instrumental of the Year awards.
The band came together six years ago when the girls were just 7 and 10 years old.
Since then they’ve gone from strength to strength with their mix of traditional songs with a rock twist as well as originals and modern covers. They incorporate the fiddle, mandolin, guitar and Celtic drums.
String Loaded performed in front of 120,000 people for the opening ceremony at the Woodford Folk Festival earlier this year. They also provided the entertainment at Jimmy Barnes’ daughter’s wedding.
With strong Scottish roots the band tells the stories along with the tunes to inform people of the rich history of Celtic music.
Jennifer said older people often cried when they heard the music as it brought back memories.
She said the award recognition was a testament to their passion for the music and the hard work they put in to the band.
