Kelly’s Director, David Ward, a long time cricket player and supporter, wanted to give something back to the sport and the region, that he got so much out of, when playing in Maitland.
“Much of our business stems from Maitland and the Hunter Valley, so it makes sense that we want to contribute to the community,” David said. “I’ve been involved in the Association as a player for many years and have seen the great work they do and the enjoyment the players get from the sport.”
Maitland & District Cricket Association President Malcolm Muddle said it was tremendous to have the support of Kelly’s.
“This major sponsorship is helping us to make cricket in the Maitland area much stronger,” Malcolm said.
“David has been involved in Maitland cricket for many years and it’s great to see Kelly’s get involved too. It’s a local business that understands the need to support not-for-profit groups and we are really grateful.”
As part of the sponsorship arrangements, Kelly’s will be recognising the batting and bowling performance of the week, with a $100 voucher awarded to each player (who can only win it once a season), to spend at a local Maitland business.
Another element of the sponsorship is when a member of a cricket club, or someone they refer, take out a loan through Kelly’s, a $250 donation will be made back to the cricket club where that member plays.
These loans include car, home and general business loans.
“Basically this means that in addition to the monetary support we are providing the Association, the member clubs themselves have the chance to be provided with funds as well,” David continued.
“As a sponsor we think this is a win win offer. Both of us will benefit at the end of the day.”
The Maitland & District Cricket Association is part of the Hunter Valley Cricket Council and has participated in their competitions for many years. They have eight district Clubs as part of the Association and 17 Clubs playing in the One Day competition.
Kelly’s have recently broadened their business options to align their name and brand with their full suite of loan services.
“We spoke to our clients and realized that many of them didn’t know we had expanded our finance service offering,” Paul said. “With this in mind we undertook a complete rebrand to signal to our clients, and the wider marketplace, the breadth of our loan services.”
