Police were called out to Phoenix Park Road on Friday to reports of an unexploded bomb. Army bomb disposal experts were then called to investigate.
The device was found to be a dummy explosive, which was believed to have been from World War II.
Luckily, it was full of lead rather than explosive.
The device was handed to the army. Police said the device will be melted down, likely into sinkers.
“Good work to the driver who called police,” Senior Constable Kel Boak said.
“It is much better to be safe than sorry.”
