Well it's back at East Maitland independently owned service station Quinn's on Melbourne.
Quinn's, in partnership with Mai-Wel LabourForce Solutions, has employed David Gibbs who is only too happy to pump your fuel, clean your windscreen and check your oil, water and tyres. At age 20, David of Rutherford, was job seeking and asked LabourForce Solutions to help him find a suitable position. He now works at Quinn's between 10am and 2pm every Tuesday and Wednesday.
On the flip side Quinn's, was looking for a driveway attendant who could work a few hours a week and help some of the service station's older customers, even young mums struggling filling their cars with young children on-board.
Brooke Woodbridge of Quinn's said the business wanted to bring back old fashioned driveway service and also wanted to provide a position to help set someone up in the workforce. Mrs Woodbridge said David's position has been applauded. "It as received great uptake. David has been fantastic," she said.
Mai-Wel's Industry Engagement and Business Development Facilitator, Tracy Forbes, said David is loving his new job. "He's a friendly young man and has been with us for 12 months. We look at capacity building activities and determine what clients like David are good at then look at their employment goals and find them appropriate jobs," she said.
