A Bolwarra Heights man digging in his garden over the weekend was surprised to find 50 bullets which had been buried on his land in a plastic container. The ammunition was corroded, but none the less still dangerous. The gentleman surrendered the ammunition at Maitland Police Station. We will arrange for it to be destroyed.

P-plate driver fined for speeding
Maitland Highway Patrol detected an 18-year-old female allegedly driving more than 30km/h over the speed limit in an 80km/h zone on Woodberry Road, Woodberry on Tuesday. When the p-plater was stopped about 4.30pm she allegedly told police: “I forgot my work shoes”. Police suspended her licence immediately for three months. She was also handed an $884 fine.
Mid-range drink driving
Maitland police stopped a 49-year0old motorist on the New England Highway, Maitland for a random breath test 9.50pm on Saturday. The man allegedly failed the test. He was arrested and conveyed to Maitland Police Station where it was allegedly found he had a mid-range concentration of alcohol in his blood. His licence was suspended immediately and he will be attending Maitland Court.
Gold ring found
An honest citizen found a gold ring in a gutter in East Maitland last Thursday and brought it into Maitland Police Station. Unfortunately we have not been able to locate an owner. The ring has distinctive writing on the outside and inside. If you have lost such a ring contact the police station on 49340200.
School vandalised
Unknown offenders used black spray paint to graffiti several building of Rutherford Public School in Weblands Street about 10pm Saturday night.
