A NSW Health Infrastructure spokesperson has confirmed the body will call for tenders in October, after the Expression of Interest period is complete.
The spokesperson said a decision would be made as to which prospective operators would be asked to submit tenders.
“[The] government has received a significant interest from the not for profit sector, however due to commercial sensitivities we are unable to provide exact numbers,” she said.
When he announced earlier this month that the not-for-profit sector, rather than a private organisation, would build and run the new hospital, Health Minister Brad Hazzard said he wanted construction to begin by the end of this year.
“I’m aiming to bring it on as quickly as possible,” he said at the time.
“I want it underway ASAP.”
