Attendees are encouraged to wear their loudest shirts and bring the family.
This is the second time the event has been held and organisers are encouraging families and the young at heart to come along.
Funds raised will go to ongoing maintenance of Grossman and Brough Houses. The National Trust has spent $400,000 in the last 12 months on renovating the two heritage listed buildings.
Why ukuleles you ask?
“Ukuleles are simply to play, having only four strings, so they are easy to pick up and produce a melody,” said event co-ordinator Helen Scott.
“They are also easy to arrange melodies. They are comparatively cheap to buy and very portable which makes them very accessible and easy to take to a jam session.
“We are encouraging people to dress up in their wildest shirts, let their hair down and have a great time in the beautiful grounds of Brough House.”
The event will be held at Brough House Maitland from 2pm to 5pm. Tickets cost $25 for members of the public or $20 for National Trust members. To book call 49344087.
Members of the community are also able to visit the 19 th Century home and all of its antique collections every Sunday from 10am to 3pm. Tickets are $7 for adults, $5 for concessions and $17 for the community. Tour groups are also welcomed by appointment.
