The debate topic was ‘Fame Trumps Brains’ which was fertile ground for the contestants.
Leading the affirmative team arguing ‘fame trumps brain’ was one of Australia’s most experienced stand-up comics, Peter Rowsthorn.
Joining Peter on the affirmative team was local solicitor and seasoned Mai-Wel debater, Matt Tranter, and Cessnock Councillor Melanie Dagg.
Captain of the opposition to argue ‘fame does not trump brain’ was national comedian, MC and all-round entertainer, Andy Saunders.
Backing up Andy was local comedian Soame Chopra, and local business woman, Gillian Summers.
Facilitating the evening and attempting to keep the debaters in line was Maitland Business Chamber’s Craig McGregor.
