It’s another strong result for the Pink Jets, who went up against the top school teams from the country.
The aerobics programs has been running at Rutherford Public School for 11 years with the aim being to promote fun and fitness.
The Pink Jets have represented NSW at the last 10 consecutive national events, a “huge achievement for any school in the region” according to proud school principal Andrew Brown.
In that time, the Pink Jets have been state champions eight times and national champions four times.
They compete in the primary aerobics section of the competition and earned their place in the national titles this year after placing first in the preliminary finals held in Sydney in May.
Following that competition, the Pink Jets won the gold medal and the title of state champions at the state championships in Sydney in June.
The girls spend hours practicing their routine with a solid commitment required to make training sessions in the holidays, before school and during lunch breaks.
Mr Brown said the coaching of Ainslie Ledwos, who has mentored the Pink Jets for more than 10 years, was an important part of the team’s consistently high performances.
“We’re very proud of the girls and of the coaching of Ainslie Ledows over the last 10 years,” he said.
“Win, lose or draw these girls get a lot camaraderie and mateship out of it.”
The Pink Jets 2017 team is comprised of nine from years five and six:
Ruby Van Der Wel, Laura Valance, Reese O’Donnell, Ella Dick, Josie McIntosh, Smantha Rachubinski, Emma Meehan, Jacinta Connolly, Mikaela Sadaj.
