The state government announced the additional service on Friday.
Two services will operate each day between Singleton and Maitland train stations with stops at Branxton, Greta and Lochinvar.
During the week the route 180X bus will depart from Maitland at 8.55am and 2.10pm and from Singleton at 7.37am and 1.07pm.
On weekends buses will leave Maitland at 10.48am and 3.47pm and depart Singleton at 9.47am and 2.46pm. It will cost $4.61 to travel between Maitlan and Singleton through the Opal card system.
Upper Hunter MP Michael Johnsen announced the plan with Transport Minister Andrew Constance.
“We will start a 12 month trial from Monday and monitor the uptake of the service to check we have got the timing right and meeting the needs of customers,” Mr Johnsen said.
