Wilson, who has just returned from winning $50,000 at a select singles event in Perth, will meet the Hunter’s best bowler Nathan Dawson when the Kurri Kurri Cannons host the Griffins today from 6pm.
East Maitland bowls director Clay Parker said it was a tantalising singles match-up and sports fans should do themselves a favour and get along for the match between the Australian representative Wilson and Kurri’s Dawson.
Parker said Pearse will face fellow Australian representative Ben Twist, who finished runner up in Perth at Wilson, at East Maitland on Thursday night.
Twist will be representing Soldiers Point, who sit third on the Stone’s Big Bowl Challenge, in the match against the fifth-placed Griffins.
“It’s exciting to be able to have players of this calibre playing in the Big Bowls Challenge,” he said.
“It’s a great competition but this takes it to another level.”
Family bragging rights are also at stake tonight with Parker facing his son Corey in the pairs.
The Cannons are unbeaten and top the Big Bowls Challenge table by six points from the Raymond Terrace Jets on 70.5 points.
