Number three Lynch scored 126 and Ballard finished on 101 coming in at No.5. Opener Will Stoneman made 42 at the top of the order.
Ballard is yet to record an average after finishing on 51 not out in Easts’ opening round win against Raymond Terrace, accumulating 152 without being dismissed.
Norths face a big test on Saturday chasing the big total at Hinton Oval on the second day of the two-day fixture.
A middle-order fightback by Sam Fairfull and Brodie Linnane enabled Kurri Weston to post a defendable target of 97 against Raymond Terrace at Bill Bobbins Oval.
Fairfull top scored with 31 and Linnane made 17 as the young Warriors were bowled out in the 36th over.
Raymond Terrace will resume on 2/22 after Linnane backed up with the ball to grab 2/3 from three overs.
The Lions will be keen to collect their first win of the season after going down to Easts in the first round.
City United have the bye this round.
There were plenty of highlights across the junior ranks with Northern Suburbs Black under-12 captain Lachlan MacIntyre making 57 not out including 10 fours and two sixes.
MacIntyre’s innings eclipsed opponent Clarence Town’s total of 53.
Thomas Thorpe’s unbeaten 43 laid the platform for Eastern Suburbs White under-14s win against Northern Suburbs. The Griffins made 3/117 and restricted Norths to 4/89.
Northern Suburbs under-13 Jack Ryan hit seven fours in his inning of 41 retired not out as Norths beat City United by eight wickets.
Western Suburbs under-13 Joel Connell retired on 40 not out as his team made 3/99 against Dungog, however, innings of 36 by Declan McIntosh and 32 by Thomas Lovegrove ensured Dungog the win posting 5/102.
Tenambit Morpeth under-15 Ryan Wind took 3-5 against City, Samuel Holz took 3/8 for Norths against Thornton in under-12s and Zachary Watt took 3-12 for Karuah and Tea Gardens under-15s.
