Today, Maitland’s Bitter and Twisted Boutique Beer Festival has grown into one of the biggest and longest running beer events in Australia and this year will be no exception.
The 11th festival will be held in Maitland Gaol on the weekend of November 4 and 5 and will feature 19 brewers and an array of musical talent.
Saturday has already sold out with 2650 tickets snapped up soon after they went on sale. Sunday is also shaping up to be a sell out.
Maitland City Council events co-ordinator Adam Franks said tickets can still be purchased for Sunday, November 5, on the Bitter and Twisted website.
“We’ve got a great line-up of brewers over the two days including Hobo Brewing from South Australia and Yeastie Boys from New Zealand,” Mr Franks said.
“We have 19 brewers and more than 100 beers and ciders on offer,” he said.
On Sunday beer and cheese matching classes will be held.
Music across the two days will include The Delta Riggs and Mia Dyson (Saturday) and Architecture in Helsinki, I Know Leopard, Cope Street Parade and Caitlin Harnett (Sunday).
“A big part of the program this year will be our home brew master classes which will take people through the brewing process. We will also be holding some blind tastings,” Mr Franks said.
Market research carried out following last year’s event showed that 40 per cent of last year’s crowd came from the Maitland area, 60 per cent from broader NSW and a small proportion from interstate and overseas.
