The team will take 90 minutes to shed light – torchlight – on the variety of creatives escapes.

Escapes Torchlight Tour attendees will find themselves face to face with individuals who tried to run free, some more successfully than others.

On Saturday, October 28, from 8pm, join guides as they launch the novelty event, walking through seven individual stories of daring prison breaks.

Gaol service delivery officer Zoe Whiting said, while the facility already hosted Saturday night events, the “interesting and eye-opening” tour would be something a little bit different.

“We have run our escapes family-friendly tours for about two years,” she said.

“They are quite popular.

“When we discovered there were stories that were a bit more violent, we started to focus more on specific people and specific dates.”

The team’s most recently-launched tour, Crimes of Passion, has been growing in popularity.

And, according to Ms Whiting, previous fans will not want to miss the new installment’s premier event.

“If you’ve been before, come along and hear something brand new, by torchlight,” she said.

“Some of them are more adult types of escapes,” Ms Whiting said, adding this event included specific people and names, rather than a broad scope of escapes.

“There are about seven different stories reveled, and different eras of escapes.

“When the gaol began in the 1850s and 1860s, the crimes were pretty mild.”

Fast forward 100 years and the 1950s prisoners were sentenced for darker offences.

Following the launch, the tour will join the regular rotation, returning monthly.

Due to the nature of the Escapes Torchlight Tour’s content, it is not recommended for children younger than 15 years of age.

Bookings are essential, and must be paid for before the tour.
