The museum was devastated by bushfire on September 13 and has been slowly proceeding towards a safe re-opening.
Sunday will be the first opportunity for members of the public to witness the fire’s impact.
...we are determined to allow Santa his special day at Richmond Vale.
- Museum chairman Peter Meddows
“Due to delays in the process of making the site safe, volunteers have been unable to complete track rehabilitation in time for the Santa Special Day, which means we cannot run passenger services just yet,” museum chairman Peter Meddows said.
“However, we are determined to allow Santa his special day at Richmond Vale.”
Steam and diesel miniature train rides will be on offer, as well as exhibitions of model trains, face-painting and family activities.
It will also be the last chance to buy tickets in the museum’s model railway fundraising raffle, which will be drawn at 3pm that day.
Due to the lack of train services, a reduced entry fee of $10 adults, $5 children and concessions will apply. Gates will be open at 9.30am.
