The Maitland Golf Club’s rich-green fairways were splashed with pink on Wednesday for the annual Tee Off for Breast Cancer Day.

The day attracted 148 ladies from various clubs across the Hunter and all wearing the colour of the day – Pink – in an array of shades and hues.
Maitland Ladies Golf secretary Caroline Norrie said the been running since 1997 and participants had raised more than $43,000.
Norrie said the importance of the fundraising efforts hit home even mopre when the founder of the event Wendy Pryke passed away from breast cancer last year.
“A memorial trophy has been established in Wendy’s name,” she said.
While the message and fundraising is serious, the event is full of fun and included lunch with special guest Julie Callaghan.from Breast Cancer Trials.
Norrie said the fundraising efforts went across the club and members had been extremely generous with donations and purchasing raffle prizes.
