The new centre will be the third Tillys site to incorporate OOSH care within their long day care facilities with their Bolwarra service the first Tillys service to have had their Out of School Hours (OOSH) program assessed in conjunction with their 0-5 long day care centre.
“It was fantastic to have the quality of our OOSH program recognised in our Assessment and Rating result. We are very proud of the environment and experiences our Bolwarra educators provide to our OOSH children and to have this reflected as Exceeding the National Quality Standards in all eighteen standards across all seven quality areas is testament to the amazing job they do,” explains Jessica Taylor, Tillys Educational and Quality Improvement Advisor.
Tillys attention to detail is obvious in the beautiful learning environments they offer to children, including their purpose built OOSH rooms and playgrounds designed to welcome, inspire and entertain.
Tillys Rutherford will have two OOSH rooms linked with a media room where children can relax after their school day. The playground has everything a school aged child could hope for – a lush, natural environment, large sandpit, handball courts, a basketball court and climbing equipment.
“We involved our Bolwarra and Greta OOSH children in the Rutherford playground design to ensure we were meeting the needs and wants of the children who would be using it,” Mrs Taylor explains.
“Our Bolwarra and Greta OOSH children participate in a pen pal program between the two centres and they are so excited to extend their pen pals with the children who join the Tillys family from our Rutherford location.”
The inclusion of OOSH and Vacation care in the centre provides convenience for families who are able to combine long day care with OOSH for their school aged children and combine the drop off and pick up to one location, making mornings and afternoons easier for families.
“The inclusion of OOSH further strengthens the partnership our services have with our local schools, increasing the opportunities and support we can provide to children transitioning from the early learning environment to school.” She added.
Tillys is confident that they will be able to further extend the success of the last two centres in Waratah in 2014 and Bolwarra in 2016, both of which were rated as Exceeding the National Quality Standards within twelve months of opening.
