Head coach of Maitland junior cricket, Matt Trappel, said it was good to see the local competition contribute so many strong players to the rep scene.
“It’s definitely good to see Maitland cricket in such good shape with some good young juniors coming through the ranks,” Trappel, the City United first grade skipper, said.
“There’s a good bunch of kids that have made the sides. The more exposure they can get to the representative scene, the better it is for Maitland cricket.”
The young rep players will play at various state carnivals held throughout NSW in January next year.
U14s and 16s squads are yet to be announced.
Maitland players will also play their first matches in the Inter District Cricket Association competition this Sunday, with local players taking on several junior Sydney teams in the first round.
