All three games went to tie breaks with the Jets prevailing in the singles and triples to claim $10,000 winner’s cheque.
Jets bowler Ian Lean won the first set of the singles 9-0 with Kurri Kurri’s Nathan Dawson taking the second set 10-15.
In the tie breaker, Lean scored two on ends one and two which meant Dawson needed a miracle on the last end, but Lean didn’t falter and scored one to win 5-0.
In the pairs it was the Cannons combo of Corey Parker and Mick Smith taking the first set 6-4 from Raymond Terrace’s Jason Stokes and Matt Baus.
Stokes and Baus bounced back winning the second set 10-1. Kurri took a 3-0 lead after the first two ends in the tie break and finished 3-2 winners after the Jets’ final bowl drew shot but pushed out of their other bowls.
Then it was down to the triples with the Jets trio of Shane Evans, Eric Ryan and Lennon Scott taking the first set 8-3 winning six of the eight ends.
In the second set it was the Kurri’s Andrew Rees, Jake McMurray and Aaron Appleby winning five of the eight ends to take the set 9-5 which set up the match deciding tie break.
The Jets scored one on the first and second end to lead 2-0 and needed to get second shot to prevent Kurri from evening things up. A measure was needed, but the Jets claimed second shot and the title.
