About 70 of the school’s 150 students participated across a variety of sports, with Largs Public School posting impressive results when often up against much larger schools.
Principal Sharon Palmer said it was the most stunning run of sporting achievement she’d seen in her 13 years at the school.
“We’ve been doing really well, we’re very proud of them,” she said.
Ms Palmer said students had played with plenty of heart against some tough opposition.
“It’s a great effort from a small school,” she said.
She extended a warm thanks to the parents and staff who helped out.
“There’s been a lot of help from parents and I just want to thank them for that,” she said.
Staff members turned coaches across a variety of sports, with Caitlin Moroney, Lauren Hunter and Phil Holz taking the reins for multiple sporting codes and proving to be fantastic .
P and C president Michelle Knox said one of the best results of the strong year of sport was seeing kids pick up playing weekend sport after the success of their school teams.
“As well as being very successful in many of these competitions, we have also seen students start to play some of these sports on a Saturday, which they may not have done unless they had been exposed to them at school,” she said.
This year the school has been involved in rugby league, cricket, softball, touch football, soccer, netball, golf, athletics, cross country, swimming and various gala days.
Among the strong results were a grand final win in the Knights Knockout under 10s division B (based on school enrolment numbers), Reg Kelly Shield Cricket semi-finalists, fourth round of PSSA Netball, a second placing in PSSA Boys Softball and fantastic individual results at zone and regional athletics for cross country, athletics and swimming.
A number of students also went on to make regional representative teams.
“It’s been a very exciting year," smiled Ms Palmer.
