Bill crafted the stainless steel piece for an exhibition at the University of Newcastle earlier this year.
Following the exhibition, Bill was set to donate to Paterson Preschool a large, silver icosahedron. However, it was stolen from a park where it had been stowed for safe-keeping while waiting to be picked up.
Thankfully, Bill said he was called earlier this week by Paterson residents who had spied the artwork dumped in a park near the preschool, after an article by the Mercury publicising the artwork’s disappearance.
“It went viral in Paterson, which helped a lot,” Bill said of the article.
“I really am very happy about it. It was probably just drunken hijinks and I hold no grudges.
“It has gotten to the preschool now and that’s all I ever cared about.”
