Police were walking on a pedestrian crossing in the car park of The George Tavern, East Maitland at 2.40am on Saturday when a motorist allegedly failed to give way to them and kept driving.

Police stopped the car a short while later in the car park of Stockland Green Hills and allegedly found the 19-year-old L-plate driver to be driving with twice the legal level of alcohol in his blood for a fully licensed driver, when he as a L-plater should have zero.
The driver had his licence suspended and will be attending Maitland Court.
Bins destroyed in Allynbrook
On Sunday night, a motorist deliberately collided with a number of garbage bins that had been put out for collection on Allyn River Road, Allynbrook.
The bins were totally destroyed and police are hoping a member of the community may some information as to the identity of the offending driver.

Arrest for break in at East Maitland Pool
A 15-year-old boy was arrested at East Maitland Pool in the early hours of Sunday morning after he was apprehended by a security officer.
Police allege the boy broke into the pool office and consumed a drink before he was stopped by a security officer who contacted police.
The boy has now been dealt with under the Young Offenders Act.
Broken pot plants in East Maitland
On Saturday night a 28-year-old man was arrested after police responding to a call of a man smashing pot plants at a King Street, East Maitland address.
Police allegedly found the man still at the address.
He will now be attending Maitland Court.
Disqualified rider on unregistered motor bike
Readers may be aware that police are targeting motorbike riders on unregistered motorbikes in the Maitland area.
To this end police stopped a rider on Saturday afternoon after allegedly observing him riding an unregistered motorbike in Dunkley Street, Rutherford.
When the rider was asked for his licence it was discovered the 26-year-old man was a disqualified rider until 2020.
