He was presented with a huge cheque for $4500 on Tuesday from Beresfield Bowling Club – an annual supporter of the charity – and has paid tribute to the organisation. Club president Des Skinner and CEO Ian Frame presented the cheque.
The club raised the money through a Family Fun Day last year.
“They had the family fun day in October where they had barbecue lunches, face painting, jumping castles, music, bowling and a petting zoo – and they do this every year for us,” Mr Brereton said.
“There is a lot of organisation that goes into an event like this and we would like to publicly thank them for their continued support, we are very grateful for their contribution to the helicopter.”
Sixty-per-cent of the money needed to keep the helicopters in the sky comes from the government each year. It is up to the public to raise the rest.
