A nearby resident called police after they heard numerous shots fired in Clarence Street about 1.30am.
Police understand the sole occupant of the house at the time was a male associate of the Finks outlaw motorcycle gang. The man was not injured, but police believe the shooting was a targeted attack.
Police were unable to determine the exact address until the day after the attack, when further information was reported to authorities.
A police inspection of the building revealed a recently-replaced window pane as well as other damaged areas consistent with bullet holes.
A crime scene warrant was obtained to examine inside the premises, where officers found shell casings from a large calibre rifle and shotgun casings.
Examinations also determined that bullets had passed through internal walls as well as hit a car parked in the driveway.
Police are investigating and urge anyone with information to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
