The young man from Sydney's inner west, who wishes to remain anonymous, got the shock of his life on Monday as a NSW Lotteries official told him the news.

"Are you serious? Wow, wow, wow! S---, s---, s---," said the man, upon hearing the life-changing news.

"I never win anything and I always buy tickets.

"It's one of those things you hear about all the time but you don't think you'll ever win, so I don't know how to respond to this."

The man entered into Lucky Lotteries Super Jackpot. Unlike most lotteries where the prize money is shared between a pool of winners, Lucky Lotteries is a draw lottery, meaning that one winning ticket is drawn and ensures that one person always receives the entirety of the jackpot.

The young man said he will be generous with his winnings and intends to help out his family as well as a few charities.

"I'm a big person for charity - helping those who don't have the money to pay themselves," the man said.

"I am a very big animal lover, so this is one of the things I like to support. I also like to support charities for homeless people."

The Lucky Lotteries draw is now sitting at $500,000 and the Mega Jackpot has increased to $7 million.

The young man still cannot fathom the series of events. "I am shaking. I don't know what to say," he said.

"Thanks very much for this. You've made my day, you've made my life."
