NSW Rural Fire Service crews were called to the scene shortly before 11am on Wednesday.
They were supported by NSW Fire & Rescue crews and two aircraft.
Through the work of 25 firefighters, and seven trucks, the fire was contained around 12.50pm.
It burnt through 8ha, and was reportedly caused by a model aircraft crash.
Crews continue to monitor and patrol the fire ground and there is no threat to property.
NSW RFS spokesperson Paul Best praised the work of the firefighters.
“There is a Total Fire Ban in place right across the Hunter today, with severe conditions predicted,” he said, adding the conditions worsened throughout the course of the morning.
“This proved difficult for firefighters.
“We would like to remind people to stay vigilant as the weather deteriorates throughout the day.”
