All adoptions will be $29 or less from Friday to Sunday.
Be warned though, the last time the sale was on, people started queuing from 6.30am to get the pet they wanted when the shelter opened at 9.30am.
“It’s a big event,” Hunter RSPCA senior manager Debbie Jaggers said.
But for those concerned that the sale will attract buyers who cannot afford to look after a pet, Dr Jaggers said the shelter did not find that was the case.
“We look over previous years to see if there is any difference in the return rates between promotions and non-promotion periods,” she said. “We find there are always very low return rates, which is great to see.”
Dr Jaggers said there were lots of kittens looking for homes after the recent cat breeding season, as well as about 30 dogs, several horses and some pocket pets.

A very special little cat
One of the pets looking for a new home is Angel, a domestic short hair cat.
Unfortunately being an all white cat meant the sun damages her a lot more than other cats and she suffered skin cancer.
The vet staff at the RSPCA removed the cancers so she is now cancer free.
She is healing well, but is very shy so is searching for a new family that is fairly quiet and live in a quiet house.
