The registration day kicks off from 10am and is followed by a junior academy run by Campese at the club’s headquarters at St Philip’s Christian College from 11am.
Campese will involve both coaches and players handing over his particular philosophy on rugby. All current and potential junior players are welcome and places can be booked by calling Pokolbin Reds president Jerome Scarborough on 0411 041 943.
Following the junior academy, the senior club will be running their first trial game of the season in a four-way competition from 1.30pm.
Scarborough said the club had an exciting year head and for the first time Pokolbin Junior Rugby will be introducing the Little Rugby program run by highly trained instructors.
“Little Rugby uses non-contact games that centre around developing core skills like evasive running, passing, catching, balance, physical agility, teamwork , listening, understanding and responding to instructions, hand-eye co-ordination...Little Rugby develops them all,” Scarborough said
The program will be available for two to seven year olds with each child playing alongside other kids of similar age and ability.
The Little Rugby program will be held from 4.30pm on Thursday afternoons at St Philips Christian College.
Scarborough said Pokolbin Junior Rugby Club was formed in 2008 to satisfy the needs of the local community to play rugby.
“Rugby is an international game with rising popularity, especially with Rugby 7s being introduced to the Olympic Games,” he said.
“The club’s boys and girls play rugby in the Hunter Junior Rugby Union competition and field teams from Under 6s upwards.
The Pokolbin Reds juniors and seniors home ground for 2018 is at St Philips Christian College, a great central area for players and families to access.
Pokolbin Junior Rugby Club train from 4pm on Thursday with some of the older teams also training on Tuesday afternoons.
“The club is all about participation at any skill level. They encourage kids to get out on the field and have fun,” Scarborough said
“The glue of Pokolbin Junior Rugby Club is the families and supporters. They are a club with great family values and participation.
“The club would like to take this opportunity to thank all our coaches, trainers, families, supporters and sponsors for their tremendous efforts that make Pokolbin Junior Rugby a club.
Registration is $100 per player with the Active Kids Bonus available.
