From March 19 to 23, children between 10 and 18 years of age will be invited to audition.
Following the success of Singing in the Rain Jr in 2017, Hunter Drama is taking their team on the road again to bring another stunning musical opportunity to children in the region.
The travelling Aladdin Jr Hunter Drama on Tour experience also includes Newcastle, Singleton, and Cessnock in their 2018 road trip.
The Maitland production team features James Tolhurst as director, supported by musical director Alison Hodge; choreographer Timothy Shaw, and costume designer Jennifer Ellicot.
“It’s something the kids grow and learn through with each other,” Mr Tolhurst said.
“They get to meet kids interested in the same thing as them.
“It’s a great opportunity for them to get on the stage if they haven’t had the chance before.
“Nothing is precast – it is open to everyone, for any role they would like to go for.”
Jr productions give young children the chance to step into roles that would otherwise go to adults.
The one hour abridged version of the full-length Broadway musical is also easier for young performers.
Regardless, nerves could still push through when least expected.
But, Mr Tolhurst said previous performance experience was not a requirement for the show.
“Just jump in and give it a go,” he said.
“Even auditioning is an opportunity to grow in itself and we’re looking for performers of all ages.
“We’re not scary people – we’ve got big, smiling faces.”
