Shenanigans at the Imperial licensee Clayton Barrett broke out in a laugh.

“We’ll be packed from 9.30am and we’ll stay that way all day,” he said.

“We normally sell about six kegs of Guinness a week –  but on Saturday alone we’ll do 15 kegs easily. When the Irish party they tend to party hard.”

If you haven’t guessed, it’s the day when all things Irish get decked out in green and celebrate all things Irish – St Patrick’s Day.

Is Guinness really that good, we ask?

“Speak to anyone from Ireland and it’s the only beer – there’s nothing close, no substitute,” Mr Barrett explained.

There will be live music all day, from Erin Rejigged, Maitland Pipes and Drums Band – they will perform twice, at 5pm and again at 7pm – and then from Murphy O’Toole, a name that’s as Irish as you can get, from 8pm.

“We’ll have loads of great food too,” Mr Barrett said. “Breakfast from 9.30am, then lunch and dinner. 

“The place will be a sea of green.”
