Greta Branxton will travel north to Scone on Sunday to face the Thoroughbreds who need to bounce back from their loss to the Colts in round 15.
Greta Branxton inflicted Scone’s only defeat of the season with a Joby Patten penalty goal after the siren to win 20-18 to ruin the Thoroughbreds charge for a perfect season.
The Colts lost their two previous meetings with Scone 32-22 in round five and 26-12 in round 10 and will need a similar
performance to their round 15 victory if they are to upset the minor premiers for the second time in three weeks.
The winner will go straight to the grand final on August 31 while the loser will face Denman in the preliminary final.
In last weekend’s minor semi final Denman eliminated Muswellbrook in first grade after winning 18-10.
Denman will now play the loser of Scone and Greta Branxton for a place in the grand final.
It was a bad day for the Colts with both their reserve grade and under 18s teams knocked out.
Reserve grade went down 16-12 to Murrurundi while the under 18s were beaten 40-12 by Singleton.
In the lower grades on Sunday, Scone will tackle Singleton in reserve grade while Denman clash with Muswellbrook.
First grade will kick off at 3pm.
