The announcement was made by the Swans this morning and Heeney will be one of three players from the club's academy ranks to be drafted for next season.
The 2013 Maitland Junior Sportsperson of the Year nominee said it was a surreal feeling despite being at the club for four years.
"It's surreal in a way," Heeney told the AFL website.
"Although I've been at the club it'll still be an amazing feeling. It's crazy."
Heeney played juniors for the Cardiff Hawks before joining the Swans academy in 2011.
The 17-year-old has since been part of the Australian Institute of Sport squad and was awarded the division 2 MVP award at the National AFL Championships earlier this year.
Heeney will now be the Swans first draft pick at No.17 and will be joined by fellow academy players Jack Hiscox at 36 and Abania Davis at 73.
Swans head coch John Longmire said he looked forward to officially welcoming the trio to the club for 2015 and gave special mention to midfielder Heeney.
"It's really exciting to have secured three talented players in Isaac, Jack and Abania," Longmire said on the Swans website.
"Isaac is a hard at it midfielder who can basically play anywhere on the ground, he can take a good overhead mark and he's a real competitor."
Heeney will now be one of 13 NSW players on the Swans list, including co-captains Jarrad McVeigh and Kieren Jack, plus NSW-born Longmire.
"This really is a significant achievement to draft three players from our academy onot our primary list and it's a real sign of the impact the academy is having on the development of the game in NSW and the opportunities now available for local kids to be drafted," Swans chief executive officer Andrew Ireland said.
"Hopefully in the coming years, we will continue to see more NSW players follow the lead of Isaac, Jack and Abaina and join the club from the academy."
The AFL draft will be held on November 27.
