Urquhart scored two in the first and one in the second, with the Rams attacking weapon now having netted eight goals in his last three Hunter Coast Premier Hockey League outings.
Australian Schoolboys representative Pat Magann and Urquhart’s brother Peter, who was named in the NSW squad earlier this month, also made the Rams’ scoresheet.
Twice Maitland let Wests within one, but the visitors were able to hold onto their 3-1 half-time advantage.
“It was a good first half from us, but a pretty ordinary second half,” injured Rams striker Nathan Baker said.
“We strayed away from the game plan a bit and started going one out, trying to take blokes on, but we had tried a new system for the first time this season which seemed to work and let us take control.
“All in all, it wasn’t too bad.”
The Rams had lost three of their last four matches, which included conceding 21 goals.
