Balanced On a Knife Edge was a pop-up show at Newcastle Art Space.
It featured eight artists who either suffered mental illness or had a connection to someone who does.
East Maitland woman Victoria Campbell was diagnosed with borderline personality disorder in 2014 and has been in and out of hospital since.
Borderline personality disorder is a mental illness that affects a person’s ability to control their emotions and impulses.
While in hospital, Ms Campbell found art to be a way to convey the emotions she couldn’t put into words.
Her sister Elizabeth Mackenzie came up with the idea of an art exhibition to showcase these works and offer an insight into the condition.
Proceeds from works sold went to mental well-being charity Arts In Recovery.
