The company, run by Maitland councillor Robert Aitchison, will continue operating its bus tours from the Hunter under the new ownership arrangement.

Cr Aitchison, the chief operations officer of All Australian Journeys before the sale, will also stay on with the Thornton business, which his family has run for more than two decades.

“All Australian Journeys (previously known as Northern Highland Travel) has been owned by the Aitchison family for 28 years, taking their guests to many destinations throughout Australia,” Cross Country Tours spokesman Tony Gear said in a statement on the company’s website.

“This combined with Cross Country Tours’ 35 year history will allow us a great opportunity to share our passion and expertise in creating memorable travel experiences for many years to come.”
