Boredom Buster sessions will be held at Noel Unicomb Hall between 11am and 2pm for the next three Wednesdays, featuring craft, cooking and other activities.
Neighbourhood centre manager Naomi Rees said the activities were free but young people could also drop into the hall any time while it was open on Monday and Wednesday, as well as Tuesday mornings.
The initiative comes after community efforts to reduce anti-social behaviour in Woodberry.
Neighbourhood centre staff were among the service providers who met with police and Maitland MP Jenny Aitchison in December to discuss ways to tackle the issue.
“We’re hearing from the wider community that kids down there are not engaged in anything and some are getting up to mischief,” Ms Rees said. “We want to engage kids and make them feel like people in the community want to engage them.”
