A big thank you goes out to members of the local community who have supported the various events and activities in 2016.
“We had more than 130 events at the Convent, which attracted over 6500 visitors from all over Australia and overseas,” events and marketing coordinator Cynthia Mulholland said.
“These figures have more than doubled from 2015 which is a testament to the staff and volunteers who work at the Convent,” she said.
“We have offered a wide range of activities ourselves during 2016, which has included both day and evening concerts, tours and even a play in the Chapel to commemorate the 141st anniversary of the Sisters’ arrival in Singleton.
“The Convent has also been hired out for other functions including weddings, concerts, the Steel Magnolia Awards, school formal photos and the hugely-successful NSW Knitters Guild FibreFest.”
The Sisters of Mercy Convent building is more than 120 years old and the Sisters Chapel is over 90 years old.
These buildings offer visitors a wonderful experience for any event.
“We are very proud of our Convent and Sisters’ Chapel and are always pleased to hear that orchestras or musicians that are used to world-class venues across the globe rate the Chapel as one of their favourite places to perform,” Mrs Mulholland said.
A number of concerts and events have already been organised for 2017 with details available on the Sacred Spaces website at www.sacredspaces.org.au.
“We are very pleased with our 2016 results and look forward to welcoming everyone to the Convent during 2017,” Mrs Mulholland said.
