Central Hunter crime manager Detective Inspector George Radmore said a woman armed with a knife entered the store just before midnight on October 29.
She allegedly threatened the console operator and demanded cash and cigarettes.
The employee allegedly handed over the items before the woman fled.
Police said a man was in the service station before the incident and left shortly afterwards.
A 35-year-old man and a 34-year-old woman were charged after police raided an address at Riley Street, East Maitland on Wednesday.
During the raid police found items allegedly related to the robbery.
They also allegedly discovered a vehicle that was reported stolen from Aberglasslyn on January 9.
An 18-year-old woman, who is already in custody at Silverwater Correctional Centre for an unrelated offence, was also charged over South Maitland service station incident.
