The caravan was taken from a Lake Munmorah home sometime between 10.30pm Friday and 6am Saturday.
A friend of the van owner spotted the stolen caravan parked alongside a house at Millfield.
The friend called police who attended and searched the van.
Some power tools were missing but most of the van’s contents were intact. A theft prevention device had also been attached to the tow bar.
Police recovered the caravan and returned it to its rightful owner. Officers are still on the hunt for the thieves.
Police are looking for two males who were spotted driving a silver Toyota sedan with a tow bar.
