The yearly black tie event raises funds for the Maitland-based disability support service.
About 250 guests were treated to a twilight pre-party outside before heading into the hall for an indulgent arabian night; wining, dining and dancing the night away to eight-piece band The Swing Kings.
“The first Gala Ball was a celebration of Mai-Wel’s 50 years of operations,” Mai Wel CEO Pennie Kearney said.
Over the past six years the Gala Ball has raised more than $130,000 for people with a disability and jobseekers in the Hunter region.
"This year we are fundraising to fitout our new project space specifically, equipment for our café training facility,” Ms Kearney said.
“This new space will provide jobseeker's with hands on prevocational training opportunities and will increase employment opportunities.”
$18,000 was raised from the auction alone.
