If 2017 form is any gauge, the first game between the two teams since the 2016 grand final promises to deliver the usual cliffhanger result.
Perennial power team Hills are reigning premiers after defeating The George 51-49 in last year’s decider to claim a second premiership in three years.
The great recent rivalry began in 2016 when The George defeated red-hot favourites Hills by a goal in the grand final.
The George skipper Amonie Lindsell said her team always eagerly awaited the games against Hills.
“I think both teams have similar records going into the game, so it should be another great game and a very close result as well,” she said.
“There is always a bit of excitement around the game. It should be a good contest.”
The George will be without key defender Amy Williams, Olivia Perry in the midcourt and the versatile Alyce Ham who can play at both ends.
But they will be strengthened by Cindy Lidbury who made a successful return last week from a calf injury.
“Cindy eased back into things playing half a game last week and she felt that went quite well,” Lindsell said.
“She will play a little bit more time this week and will be important for us She’s instrumental for our team, very experienced and brings a great deal of passion to the team, so we are very happy to have her back.
“There are a few niggles here and there but hopefully everyone will be OK for Saturday.”
The other round five games will also deliver some exciting match-ups which could provide an indication as to which teams may break clear of the pack to challenge Hills and The George’s dominance.
Club Maitland City have a chance to cement third spot when they meet Maitland Carpet Court in the early game on court 25.
Club Maitland have three wins and a draw from their opening four games and on form should come away with a win against Maitland Carpet Court who won their opening round but have had a tough run since losing to The Bradford and their Hills and The George.
Royal Federal will be looking for their first win of the season when they take on The Bradford, who sit just outside the top four with a win and a draw.
Tolsaf Cranes and Branxton GMP meet in the final game with both newcomers to A-grade steadily improving.
Tolsaf should make it three wins in a row and maintain their spot in the top four.
