Ausgrid replacing west cables

Ausgrid is replacing 40-year-old underground low voltage cables in the Rutherford area.

Over the past few years cables have been replaced in suburbs like Tenambit and Metford as part of an ongoing Ausgrid program.

A spokesperson for Ausgrid said the cables in Rutherford need to be replaced for a safe and reliable electricity supply.

The cables are accessed by excavating roads, footpaths and grassland. Once new cables are installed they are connected to the network, homes and businesses.
