The 23-year-old man was arrested a Metford home about 8.45am Tuesday.
Police claim they found the man attempting to hide under a blanket on a lounge.
The arrest comes after property, including credit cards, was stolen from a number of vehicles in Thornton, Metford and East Maitland in July.
The credit cards were later used at retail businesses in the Hunter area.
The man will face court in September on theft from motor vehicle and fraud charges.
