Both teams were fierce in their approach to the ball and Maitland’s Emily Tudman was left motionless on the floor after a heavy head knock contesting a rebound in the second quarter.
Tudman was able to walk from the court with assistance but was unable to take any further part in the game.
It was a big blow as she was leading point scorer at the time with eight and had been winning plenty of rebounds.
The Mustangs rallied twice from eight point deficits to level the scores at half-time and then trail by just one going into the final quarter.
But Bathurst, who finished on top of the ladder, were able to pull away for the win.
Shakera Reilly top scored for the Mustangs with 10 points, Rachel Williams landed nine and Tudman and Jessica Orr both finished with eight.
Hannah Fox had a strong defensive game repeatedly grabbing rebounds in defence and offence.
