Local charity The Umbrella Foundation Australia, is hosting a Gatsby-era themed affair to remember at Mansfield House on Saturday October 7 kicking off at 6:30pm.
It will be an evening of costumes, jazz, fine wine, good food, frivolity and mystery.
Chairperson of The Umbrella Foundation Australia’s, Linda Harwood, promises the night will be one of Maitland’s most exclusive event.
“It will be a premier event that everyone will be talking about. It is unique and something that Maitland hasn’t ever seen before. The night goes back to supporting vulnerable youth not only in our community but also children who have had to experience life in extremities that none of us could imagine,” Ms Harwood said.
The Umbrella Foundation Australia is a local charity branch, run by local people, that aims to spread awareness, organise events and support the ongoing work of Umbrella Nepal which works to alleviate the suffering of children and their families in Nepal.
The foundation is now expanding to also support local youth in the community.
Event co-ordinator Tracey Wilkinson also hinted at various ‘surprises’ throughout the night.
“There will be silent auctions, raffles, prizes for best dancer, best dressed, a mystery wine raffle and other mysterious activities from the era,” she said.
For the biggest surprise of the night, people will have to attend to find out the enigmatic details.
Patrons can chose from a selection of three tickets varying in price from $150 to $180.
“Each ticket includes an all-inclusive evening with endless fine food and good wine. There will be a cocktail designed specifically for the evening and a vintage car with professional photographers on scene… there will also be music from local swing and jazz band Saxonova,” the ladies said.
All the funds raised from the night will go back to the foundation and its sister charity Centre for Hope.
There are 150 tickets available, but they are limited so anyone interested is urged to get in quick.
